Sudan war: Hundreds of civilians displaced in latest South Kordofan's violence A total of 570 civilians were displaced from Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan, over a three-day period due to deteriorating security conditions, the UN International Organization for Migration (IOM) said. The organisation said in a statement that its tracking teams recorded the displacement of 570 people from Kadugli between 8 and 10 January, as insecurity escalated in the city. The displaced families headed toward areas in White Nile State, southern Sudan. The situation in Kadugli remains “tense and volatile,” the agency said, adding that its teams are continuing to closely monitor developments on the ground. Last week, IOM reported that the number of displaced people across Sudan’s three Kordofan states, North, West and South, had risen to 64,890 between 25 October and 30 December 2025. Four Injured As Gunmen Invade Ex-minister’s residence

July 23, 2023

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has condemned the gunmen’s attack on the residence of Labaran Maku, a former Minister of Information.

This is contained in a statement signed by Peter Ahemba, senior special assistant to the governor on public affairs, on Sunday in Lafia.

Gunmen had, on Saturday night, forced themselves into the residence of the former minister and, in the process, injured four security personnel.

The criminals, however, escaped when the military promptly arrived at the scene shortly after they were informed.

The governor, who described the incident as unfortunate, said he had directed the police and other security agencies to arrest the criminal elements and ensure they face the full wrath of the law.

Mr Sule reassured residents of the state government’s readiness to secure the lives and property of the citizens, adding that the general well-being of the people remains a top priority of his administration.

“The state government is already partnering with the top military command, the police and other paramilitary agencies to ensure that the bandits fleeing from other parts of the country as a result of military onslaughts against them do not have hiding places in Nasarawa State,” he said.

Mr Sule also warned criminal elements operating under whatever guise to desist from the evil acts, insisting that the state has no place to harbour criminals.

The governor, who extended his deepest sympathy to Maku over the unfortunate incident, promised to stem the tides of insecurity in all parts of the state.
