 France records first Ebola case in doctor returning from DR Congo France confirmed its first imported Ebola case after a humanitarian doctor returned from a mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Health Ministry said Wednesday, Anadolu Agency reported. The patient, who had returned from an area where the virus is circulating in Congo, was immediately admitted to a specialised healthcare facility and is in stable condition, the ministry said in a statement. “All precautionary measures, including the patient's isolation, were taken upon his arrival in the country,” it added, saying the transfer to hospital was carried out under secure conditions to prevent any risk of contamination. French health authorities said a full epidemiological investigation is underway to identify people who may have been in contact with the patient. Gov. Otu imposes curfew in 2 Cross River LGAs

Gov. Bassey Otu has declared a dusk to dawn curfew in Akpabuyo and Bakassi Local Government Areas of Cross River, following crisis in the two LGAs.

A statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Owan-Enoh said the curfew takes immediate effect and will run from 7pm to 6am.

It would be recalled that both LGAs in the Southern Senatorial District of the state have been recording crisis for weeks in which lives and properties were lost.

According to the governor, movement of people and vehicles have been banned during the curfew hours.

He said that the measure became necessary to ensure the safety of lives and properties, as well as forestall further breakdown of law and order.

“The public is therefore advised in their own interest to adhere strictly to these directives,” he added.
