 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Road Projects Inspection: Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works and Transportation Lauds Gov. Inuwa


  The Permanent Secretary, Gombe State Ministry of Works and Transportation, Alh. Yambiu Idris Buba has lauded the giant strides of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya in infrastructural development.


  He stated this while briefing newsmen after he inspected the ongoing road projects awarded by the present administration under the able leadership of Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, CON. 


   "we conducted an extensive inspection tour across the state to asses the progress of all ongoing road construction projects to ensure strict adherence to approved plans, quality standard as well as timely completion and  also evaluated the efficiency and effectiveness of the engineering techniques employed in the construction, he said.


The Permanent Secretary, expressed satisfaction with the level and quality of work being executed at the projects sites visited. 


He commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya for the approval and release of  over Two hundred Million naira for the payment of compensation to the affected property owners at Gabukka quarters to pave way for road corridors.


Alh. Yambiu appealed to the benefiting communities to remain loyal to the present Government and give the construction firms all necessary support.


  In their separate responses, the Project Engineers handling the visited projects, outlined their major challenge as mainly the rain which is slowing down the pace of construction. They assured the Permanent Secretary that they will make sure they stick to the contract agreement and deliver the projects within the time frame.


  Some of the projects visited included; construction of road network within three Mega Schools and three General Hospitals spread across the the senatorial districts of the State.


Others are Nafada link road, Gombe township road network phase six totaling about 52KM, Kwanan Rugaje- Almakashi which is 17.2KM in Funakaye Local Government, Dogon ruwa - Gelengu road in Kaltungo/Balanga Local Governments.


Also inspected are 3.4KM  Dunbu - Tsando road, 11KM Kwadon -Sabongari road and 27KM Kuri - Dasa road all in Yamaltu Deba Local Government.


  The Permanent Secretary also inspected 14KM Filiya - Gundale road in Shongom local government. 10KM Bujude -Diri road and Tappi -Shongo Idirisa road all in Kwami Local Government.


The projects visited are at various stages of completion.
