 Ohanaeze Council Condemns EFCC’s Declaration Of Lagos Governor's Ally, Aisha Achimugu Wanted The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has criticised the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over what it described as the "unjust persecution" of socialite and businesswoman Aisha Sulaiman Achimugu. The group, in a statement issued on Sunday by its National President, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, condemned the manner in which the EFCC raided Achimugu’s Abuja residence and declared her wanted, despite her being out of the country at the time. A viral video had earlier surfaced online, purportedly showing EFCC officials at the Achimugu family home, where her 80-year-old mother was allegedly forced to sit on the floor and she was denied water. Emefiele to be arraigned Tuesday in Lagos

The suspended Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, is expected to be arraigned at the Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 on charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Justice Nicholas Oweibo, who will be sitting as the vacation judge for the entire South-West, fixed the date on Friday and the information has since been communicated to lawyers of all the parties, reports Channels Television.

Confirming the development, one of the lawyers to the embattled CBN Governor, Victor Opara (SAN), disclosed that hearing notices to that effect had been issued and sent out by the court to the counsel involved in the matter, according to Channels Television.

He also confirmed that the former president of the Nigerian Bar Association Joseph Daudu (SAN), is expected to lead Emefiele’s defence team.

It was earlier reported that the Department of State Services had on July 13, 2023 filed a two-count of illegal processions of firearm and ammunition against the suspended CBN governor.

The DSS in the charge sheet accused Emefiele of possessing a single-barrelled shotgun (JOJEFF MAGNUM 8371) without a licence.

In the second count, the service charged him with illegally possessing 23 rounds of live ammunition (cartridges) without a licence. The offence is also said to be contrary to Section 8 of the Firearms Act and punishable under Section 27 (1)(b)(il) of the same Act.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
