 Nicole Kidman recalls the heartbreaking moment she found out her mom died Nicole Kidman has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she learned of her mother Janelle’s death just as she was about to accept a best actress award at the Venice International Film Festival.  The Babygirl star recalled being backstage when she received the news, saying she returned to her room “completely devastated” and unsure how she would move forward without her mother, who had been such a central part of her life. She described the “harrowing” attempt to leave Venice in the middle of the night to return to Australia, only to turn back, overwhelmed and alone.  Director Halina Reijn later read a statement on Kidman’s behalf, dedicating the award to Janelle and acknowledging the collision of art and life in that painful moment. We Can’t Fold Hands, Watch Country Deteriorate, CJN Tells Judiciary 

Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Olukayode Ariwoola, yesterday, urged jurists and legal professionals not to sit by and watch the country degenerate but rather wake up to their role of charting a course for national development.

Ariwoola, who said this, while declaring open the 2023 Nigerian Bar Association- Section on Legal Practice (NBA-SLP) conference, urged lawyers to embrace honesty, transparency and integrity, saying they must distinguish themselves and not be afraid to fight for a just society.

Also, in his remarks, NBA chairman, Yakubu Maikyau, said a new code of conduct for legal practitioners would be launched January 1, 2024, to fight corruption within the Bar, The Guardian reports.
