 Plateau: 51 get mass burial as death toll hits 53 •Tinubu, Atiku react Death toll in the attack on Zike Kimakpa community in Kwall District of Irigwe Chiefdom, Bassa Local Government, Plateau State has risen to 53. Initial reports gave the future as 47, but a source close to the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) said more bodies were recovered after the villagers combed surrounding bushes. Several others were also wounded in the Incident, which occurred on Sunday night . National  Publicity Secretary, Irigwe Development Association (IDA), Samuel Jugo, confirmed that the 51 killed were given a mass burial yesterday amidst tears and wailing by relations and other sympathisers who thronged the burial site. It was gathered  that the gunmen in large numbers, rode into the area on motorbikes at about 11:32 pm on Sunday and went on a killing rampage till the early hours of yesterday ,killing  no fewer than 53 persons. Baze University Abuja organized a touching farewell ceremony for Professor Tahir Mamman, the former Vice-Chancellor, who has now been appointed as the Honourable Minister of Education.


During the gathering, attendees expressed their gratitude for Professor Tahir’s exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment during his tenure as the Vice-Chancellor of the university. His legacy of dedication and vision has left an indelible mark on the institution.


With an abundance of experience and expertise, Professor Tahir Mamman is poised to address the critical challenges within Nigeria’s education sector. The university community holds high hopes that his contributions as Minister of Education will lead to positive and impactful changes.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
