 Kwara Govt donates 150 off-road motorcycles to Nigerian Army •LGAs acquire 320 motorcycles to boost vigilantes' security operations  In a bid to further strengthen security operations and maintain peace across Kwara State, His Excellency Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led Kwara State Government has donated 150 off-road motorcycles to the Nigerian Army. The motorcycles are expected to enhance troops' mobility and effectiveness, particularly in rugged terrains such as forests, where non-state actors may be hiding with intent to destabilise the peaceful atmosphere of the state. Biu: Zulum pays late-night visit to Specialist hospital, orders rehabilitation, recruitment of 5 doctors, 20 nurses 

 … Shares food to 18,000 families in Damboa

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum has directed the rehabilitation of Biu Specialist Hospital just as he approved the recruitment of 5 medical doctors and 20 nurses for the hospital. 

Zulum gave the directive on Monday during a late-night visit to the hospital. 

Governor Zulum mostly pays unscheduled late-night visits to hospitals in order to assess functionality and approve interventions where necessary. 

Zulum noted that the rehabilitation of Biu Specialist Hospital will involve a comprehensive overhaul of the hospital's infrastructure, including the renovation of existing wards, installation of modern medical equipment, and the enhancement of sanitation and hygiene facilities to meet specialist status.

 “Insha’Allah I will send a team to come and examine the hospital before I leave this town. We will do the reconstruction in phases so that the provision of healthcare services will continue while the reconstruction work is ongoing.” Zulum said. 

… Shares food to 18,000 families in Damboa 

Before arriving in Biu on Monday, Zulum was in Damboa, the headquarters of Damboa Local Government on Sunday, at which he spent the night coordinating humanitarian activities. 

The Governor supervised the distribution of food palliatives to over 18,000 families. 

With each of the 18,000 families multiplied by the standard of 6 members per household, about 108,000 persons benefitted from Zulum’s distribution. 

Each of the 18,000 households received one bag of rice and one bag of maize grain.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
