 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Davido requests cyclist account details, promises meeting on return to Nigeria

Afrobeats singer Davido has decided to offer an ‘obstinate’ cycling fan monetary compensation with a promissory note to meet him on his return to Nigeria.

On Thursday evening, Davido became aware of a fan, a Benue indigene, who set out on an eight-day cycling journey to Lagos to congratulate the singer on the massive success of his ‘Timeless’ album.

The fan simply identified as Emmiwuks began his journey from Benue on Tuesday, August 3 to arrive Lagos on Friday, August 11 which happens to be today.

Hearing about the news, the DMW boss quoted the tweet, ordering the cyclist fan to abort the mission as he wasn’t home.

“Turn around I’m not home”, tweeted Davido.

But Emmiwuks in a tweet made in the early hours of Friday expressed his resolve to complete his journey and accomplish his mission.

“Am not going back Boss I must present my gift to you @davido. Benin state heading to Ogun any moment from now..”, he replied.

Hours later, O.B.O cited Emmiwuks tweet requesting his account details, promising to see him on his return to the country.

“U no wan hear …. Oya send account … then u can do ur great journey when I’m back,” Davido stated.
