GOVERNOR UZODIMMA CAUTIONS OPPOSITION AGAINST RISKING THE LIVES OF THE IMO PEOPLE IN POLITICKING

The Imo State Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma has cautioned opposition over risking the lives and safety of the Imo people in their quest for power, urging them to embrace peace and unity.

The Governor called on the opposition to engage in constructive criticism rather than resorting to violence and destabilizing tactics. He urged them to focus on contributing positively to the development of the state instead of engaging in destructive politics.

Addressing the congregation at the All Saints (Anglican) Cathedral Diocese, Egbu in Owerri, Governor Uzodimma reminded his political opponents that power comes from God and no amount of sponsoring political violence will avail them the powers of the State.

He further emphasized that his administration is focused on delivering good governance and development to the people of Imo State and that anyone attempting to destabilize the state will be dealt with according to the law.

He commended the Bishop of the Diocese, Rt Rev Geoffrey Enyinnaya Okoroafor for the choice of his Homily which he said he benefited from.

Governor Uzodimma also congratulated the members of the Cathedral, men and women, and pleaded with Imo people, in general, to "have a rethink on what is happening in the State, characterized by violence, killings, and destructions and orchestrated by the illegal release of over 1840 prison inmates at the Owerri Correctional Centre by unknown gunmen."

On the present hardship faced by the people as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy, Governor Uzodimma assured that soon, people will be happy as plans are afloat to ensure that the price of the dollar comes down, and fuel prices nosedive with the commencement of local refining in few months. He requested all to be patient with Government at all levels.

In conclusion, Governor Uzodimma reassured the people of Imo State that their safety and well-being are top priority for his administration. He urged them to remain law-abiding citizens and cooperate with the government to build a prosperous and peaceful state.

Governor Uzodimma's caution to the opposition highlights the need for political actors to prioritize the lives and safety of the people they seek to represent. It serves as a reminder that power should be sought through peaceful and democratic means, rather than resorting to violence and endangering the lives of innocent citizens.
