 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. 'I WILL RUN AN OPEN DOOR POLICY', BETTA EDU ASSURES

Newly appointed minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, has declared that she will run an open door policy as minister of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation,

She stated this during a welcome ceremony at her official assumption of office as minister shortly after the swearing in ceremony of ministers at the Presidential villa, Monday in Abuja.

Edu assures that she is ready to work with stakeholders to ensure the furtherance staff of the ministry to recommit themselves to efficient service delivery to Nigerians.

“I am open to suggestions, I am open to advice so I will run an open door policy, I like to listen, I like to learn and I like to teach. I also like to push for results so I can call you at 2 AM bcause we have to get the job done.

“A lot of people in Nigeria are living under one dollar ninty cents per day, this will not continue, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said that this is the end, we must bring renewed hope.

“Finally, we will be reviewing a number of points as we go along. I will be bringing several innovations on board through the ministry and through the agencies that the ministry supervises but what is must important is that we keep our focus on lofty a hundred and twenty-tgree million Nigerians out of poverty and yes we can do it with determination and strong political backing from his excellency, (President Tinubu), till we achieve results,” she said

Edu said she is committed to ensuring that the ministry is one of the best and that staff welfare will be well catered for.
