 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country. 'I WILL RUN AN OPEN DOOR POLICY', BETTA EDU ASSURES

Newly appointed minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, has declared that she will run an open door policy as minister of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation,

She stated this during a welcome ceremony at her official assumption of office as minister shortly after the swearing in ceremony of ministers at the Presidential villa, Monday in Abuja.

Edu assures that she is ready to work with stakeholders to ensure the furtherance staff of the ministry to recommit themselves to efficient service delivery to Nigerians.

“I am open to suggestions, I am open to advice so I will run an open door policy, I like to listen, I like to learn and I like to teach. I also like to push for results so I can call you at 2 AM bcause we have to get the job done.

“A lot of people in Nigeria are living under one dollar ninty cents per day, this will not continue, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said that this is the end, we must bring renewed hope.

“Finally, we will be reviewing a number of points as we go along. I will be bringing several innovations on board through the ministry and through the agencies that the ministry supervises but what is must important is that we keep our focus on lofty a hundred and twenty-tgree million Nigerians out of poverty and yes we can do it with determination and strong political backing from his excellency, (President Tinubu), till we achieve results,” she said

Edu said she is committed to ensuring that the ministry is one of the best and that staff welfare will be well catered for.
