 SANWO-OLU AT HARVARD: LAGOS IS INVESTORS' DELIGHT With a GDP of $259b, a 25 million population, four seaports, and friendly government policies, Lagos is an investor’s delight, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said.  “Lagos is a place where people come in without anything and become somebody. We are a business and commercial powerhouse,” he said on Wednesday.  It was another sales drive for the “State of Aquatic Splendour” at Harvard Business School where Mr. Sanwo-Olu spoke on “Building the Future: Lagos State Infrastructure-led Transformation”. He was a guest in Professor Hakeem Belo-Osagie’s course, “Understanding Africa: Business, Entrepreneurship, Political Economy and the Complexities of a Continent.” Belo-Osagie is a foremost Nigerian investment banker and businessman. Kano government approves N854m for mass wedding

Kano state's government has approved the release of N854 million for the Auren Zaurawa Mass Wedding Initiative.

The state's Executive Council also approved N700m as payment of school fees for 7,000 indigenes of the state studying at Bayero University Kano (BUK).

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf who made the announcement on his official X handle, wrote; 

“As part of our efforts to cushion the biting effects of our current economic reality; The Kano State Executive Council under my leadership has today, approved the release of the sum of Seven Hundred Million Naira to settle tuition fees for 7000 students of Bayero University Kano (BUK).

“Further details of the initiative will be made available in due course."

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up. The Appellant is an actor. He acted in a script that he was invited to act by his colleague (PW1), Damilola Adekoya,” he said.
