  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Kebbi @32: Gov. Idris seeks support of all for next level development


The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, has appealed to the people of the state to support the present administration in its quest to take the state to the next level of development.


In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris and made available to Newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, quoted the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida as making the plea in a message to the entire people of the state on behalf of the governor.


The statement adds that, the message is in comemmoration of 32 years of existence of Kebbi State which was created on 27th August, 1991.


The statement, while congratulating the government and good people of the state for attaining 32 years of existence, Gov. Idris assures that the present administration is fully determined to bring positive development to the state.


It enjoins the people to continue praying for peace to reign across the state, observing that peace is critical to meaningful development of any society.


The statement however says, the governor assures that his administration is keenly interested in advices, suggestions as well as constructive criticism that will move the state forward, "as together we shall make Kebbi a great state envy of all".

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
