  Oshiomhole Convinced Us To Make Obaseki Governor – Philip Shaibu Philip Shaibu, the former Deputy Governor of Edo State, has disclosed that his choice to support his former boss, Godwin Obaseki, stemmed from his respect for Adams Oshiomhole, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to Naija News, Shaibu shared his doubts about Obaseki during an interview on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm program on Tuesday. Shaibu admitted that he lacked confidence in Obaseki's leadership even before they took office on November 12, 2016. He explained that despite his initial hesitations, he ultimately backed Obaseki out of respect and based on the assurances provided by Oshiomhole. He stated, “Obaseki is not a politician. We made him governor because Oshiomhole persuaded us. Police arrests 94 year old man for allegedly defiling a minor

The police in Adamawa state have arrested a 94-year-old man identified as Mohammed Abubakar, for allegedly d£filing a 13-year-old minor in Tappare ward, Ganye local government area. 

The suspect who has been identified as a herbalist, is said to have been in the habit of deceiving young females by giving them sweet items. The police said on August 12 while the victim was passing by the suspect's house, he called her into the house and took advantage of her by having an unlawful c@rnal knowledge of her. 

‘’Investigation, so far reveals that the suspect while committing the act rubbed some concoction in the form of perfume on the victim. Which made the victim ill after the incident. It was as a result of the illness when questioned by her mother, she opened up to her about what had happened.'' The police said
 
The incident was reported to the Divisional Police Headquarters Ganye, by the mother of the victim.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the state Commissioner of police CP Afolabi Babatola who frowned at the ugly incident has directed the officer in charge of the Family support unit of the command to take over the investigation and ensure diligent prosecution of the perpetrator. 

The Police Boss equally calls on the members of the public particularly parents to be watchful of their wards against criminally minded elements and key into the Command's effort in fighting to end all forms of Gender-based violence.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
