Nigerian singer, Charles Chibuezechukwu, popularly known as Crayon, has recounted how a landlord once evicted his family from his house over failure to renew their N18k rent.

Naija News reports that the Mavin Record signee disclosed this in a recent interview with MTV Base, stating that the incident happened in 2013/2014.

According to the ‘Trench To Triumph’ crooner, after they were evicted from the house, they went to stay at one of their church members’ house, and it turned out the person was also owing rent.

Crayon added that the landlord threw them out, and the situation left him depressed.

He said, “What happened is, our church member was living in a house before so she wanted to move out of the house. And we [my family] were looking for a house because they gave us a deadline to move from our former house.

So, our church member told us that okay, you guys can move into the house. We did not know all along that she was owing rent. And we had a deadline. My dad already signed a tenancy with the landlord because the landlady was going crazy.

“So, five days before [the expiration of the deadline], we moved and then we got to the [our church member’s] house. It was still a ‘face-me-I-face-you’. And then I think one of the tenants called the landlord like, ‘Yo, somebody just moved into your house.’ And then the landlord came and threw our things out. We started begging. I was f*cking depressed looking at my mom and dad being down in front of a normal man.
