  President Bola Tinubu has identified the creative economy as a pivotal element of his administration’s economic diversification agenda, reaffirming his commitment to positioning Nigeria’s creative sector as a driving force for global influence. The President stated this at the launch of the 2024 Abuja International Carnival at Eagle Square, Abuja. Yobe: Gov Mai Mala Buni awards contract for the construction of Yobe City Mall in Damaturu. 

  

Contractors begin mobilizing to the site..


The state Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing & Urban Development, has officially handed over the project site for the construction of the prestigious Yobe City Centre Mall situated at the renowned motor park, at the epicentre of the capital city, Damaturu, to the contractors Thinklab Group Limited.


This project is a significant milestone in the vision of the Executive Governor of the state, Hon Mai Mala Buni, on urban renewal and the revival of economic activities in the state, which also aims to transform Damaturu into a thriving economic hub and a center of attraction for residents and visitors alike. This development project aligns with the government's commitment to foster sustainable economic growth, create employment opportunities, and enhance the quality of life for the people of Yobe State.


The commissioner of commerce represented by the permanent secretary Alh Inuwa Gulani while handing over the site, described Thinklab Group Limited, as a renowned conglomerate with vast experience in large-scale projects, infrastructure, and energy. 


“We are delighted to have their team, led by Dr. Sa'id Kori, Chairman of the conglomerate, on board for this venture. Their track record of excellence and commitment to quality delivery reassures us that the Yobe City Centre Mall will be a testament to their expertise and dedication.

‘’His excellency, Governor Buni is committed to an enhanced economy and development for the people of the state, thus we must accord him and his initiatives every needed support and efforts to succeed.”  


During the handing over ceremony, Dr. Sa'id Kori expressed gratitude to the state government, and all stakeholders involved for their visionary approach in initiating this landmark project. He assured the public that Thinklab Group Limited would spare no effort in ensuring the timely completion of the project with the utmost adherence to international quality standards.


In his word of appreciation, the Chairman caretaker committee, Damaturu Local Government Council, Alhaji Bukar Adamu says the state remains grateful to the visionary leadership of Gov Mai Mala Buni in providing developmental projects for the upliftment of the people. 


He called on the business communities in Damaturu and especially those operating in the park to embrace the development and cooperate with the contractors for the overall progress of the state. 


The event witnessed the presence and support of esteemed dignitaries, including the commissioner Housing and urban Development represented by the Permanent Secretary and Overseeing Permanent Secretary Ministry of Information Alh. Kashim Kalli, the Director-General of Yobe State Geographic Information System (YOGIS), Dr.  Abdullahi Hassan Gana, other key stakeholders and members of the public.
