 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Anambra State Government To Begin Recruitment Of 3000 Teachers Soon



As part of efforts to improve public sector education in the state, Anambra State government will soon commence the process of recruiting an additional 3000 teachers into the state public schools.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo dropped the hint when he paid a visit to Community Secondary School, Isuofia in Aguata Local Government Area of the state.

The Governor explained that the move was to end era of "PTA" Teachers and grant access to quality education to Anambra children.

According to Governor Soludo, his administration is intentional about projecting public sector education as a model and pacesetters for other categories of school, assuring that his administration will provide accessible and quality education as the foundation for the much desired sustainable future.

Professor Soludo lamented that though tuition-free education exists in the state, students are usually made to pay dozens of other fees and levied, assuring that his government has also ended that dispensation too. 

He maintained that he is determined to demonstrate the full meaning of free education, specifically targeted at children of the poor and vulnerable in the society, because every Anambra child deserves to be taught by the best teachers. 

For the Principal of the school, Mrs Chidinma Egboh, Governor's love for education is indisputable and eulogized his strides in the sector since he assumed office.

Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Ernest Ezeajughi, Commissioner for Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, Chairman, Post Primary Service Commission, PPSSC, Prof. Nkechi Ikediugwu, Chairman, Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, Dr Mrs Vera Nwadinobi, Transition Committee Chairman of Aguata Council Area, Dr Chibueze Oforbuike, among others accompanied the Governor to the visit.
