 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.  Anambra State Government To Honour Its Past Leaders.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo says his administration will immortalize Anambra past leaders and resourceful personalities who have made the state proud.


The Governor made the pledge during the Anambra Maiden Investment summit at the International Convention Centre Awka.


According to him,the idea is to promote hardwork and excellence in the state.


To mention but a few,he promised to rename the International Convention Centre after the immediate past Governor of the state chief Willie Obiano the architect of the edifice who also built the Anambra international cargo airport which his administration will further add some finishing touches to.


Others names in his honours list include former Governor Pius Ezeife,past Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju who built the Anambra State University at Uli,Cardinal Francis Arinze,former Commonwealth Secretary General Chief Emeka Anyaoku etc.


Governor Soludo said Anambra state will graduate from its importation status to production and exportation status.,and will empower the emergence of small medium enterprises in the state.


The Governor enfolded plans by the present administration to sign a memorandum of understanding with a Canadian firm for the actualization of the intra city railway lines in the state.


He unfolded other plans to launch the state to a greater economy and also spoke of his intention to tackle the environmental challenges facing the state such as erosion.


In their separate contributions, an industrialist in the state chief Paul Okonkwo,a one time Transition Committee Chairman for Anaocha LGA Chief Ikeobi Ejiofor,the traditional ruler of Uke Igwe Charles Agballa,and a one time Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in Anambra state Chief Mrs Bridget Obi showered encomiums on Governor Soludo for his giant initiatives to move the state to the state to the next level.(Ministry Of Information).
