 71-year-old landlord arrested for impregnating tenant’s teenage daughter The Ogun State Police Command said it had arrested a septuagenarian landlord, identified simply as Adesina, for allegedly defiling and impregnating his tenant’s 14-year-old girl (name withheld) at Akegbeyale Street in Ifesowapo Akute, Ifo Local Government Area of the state. PUNCH Metro learnt that the residents and other tenants were thrown into a state of shock when the septuagenarian suspect was found on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, having sexual intercourse with the 14-year-old girl at about 10:15 pm in the house bathroom. The minor, according to a police source who was part of the team that arrested the 71-year-old suspect but was not permitted to speak for the command, was said to have made her way to the apartment’s bathroom to take a shower. ASHIA commences third phase enrollment exercise of beneficiaries into BHCPF

The Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA) has commenced the third phase enrollment of beneficiaries into the Basic Healthcare Provision fund (BHCPF) provided by the Federal Government of Nigeria and implemented through State Health Insurance Schemes.


The BHCPF, which was officially launched on January 18, 2021 is a Federal Government initiative that covers 100% of the cost of receiving healthcare services for the disabled, vulnerable and poor indigenes of the State. 


Explaining reasons behind the additional enrollment, the Managing Director (MD) of ASHIA, Dr Simeon Onyemaechi said, “the plan is to replace the deceased or those enrollees that have never used the programme since inception, with the community members whose names are in the state social register. 


He further noted that this phase of enrollment will focus on the under-five children, pregnant women, the elderly and those with disability from the register to benefit from the programme.


The program according to Dr. Onyemaechi will ensure that the health indices of the state improves rapidly, as access will be expanded to the poor members of the society to quality healthcare services.


He encouraged Ndi Anambra to utilise the services provided by the scheme instead of continuing with the practise of patronising quacks for serious health challenges that have resulted in preventable death among our people. (Ministry of Information)

Namtira Bwala has threatened to file a lawsuit against the school authorities if her abusers are not punished within 48 hours.
