 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Cattle Menace Committe Reassures Farmers of Safety in Their Farms

The Anambra State Value Chain Development Programme (VCDP) has paid a courtesy call to the Local government Chairman, Mr ThankGod Anago on the occasion of conflict resolution committee meeting held in Awka North LGA hall. 

Anago in a remark commended the VCDP team for the giant stride and expressed gratitude on the milestone achieved so far in Awka North LGA. 

The chairman advised that the conflict resolution committee meeting on cattle menace should be made participatory with the herders in attendance to really achieve the objective for which the committee was set.
 
Also the chairman Orumba North LGA,  Ogoo Ekwueme, while addressing the committee enjoined then to be proactive in their duties as committee members to ensure the mandate of the Programme. 

Earlier, the Agricultural Production Officer (APO) of the VCDP, explained that the essence was to engage in peaceful resolution of farmers/herders conflict to aid the confidence of farmers going back to their farms safely. 

The APO said the committee comprised the chairman of the Local government who chairs the meeting, Presidents-General, Igwes, chairman Commodity Agricultural Forum (CAF), Chairmen APEX both rice and cassava, DPO, DSS, Immigration, Civil Defense, the VCDP Extension agent and Liaison officers as the secretary of the committee.

The meeting was held simultaneously across the eight participating LGAs of the VCDP.(MOI)
