The Parish Priest, St Paul's Catholic Church, Akpo, Rev. Fr. Cyriacus Ubah has called on Nigerians not to offend deliberately, emphasizing that God understands motive at which anything is done.
He made the call in a homily during Mass at the Church, in Akpo, Aguata LGA, on September 17.
The cleric said, "Forgiveness is the beauty of Christianity. The rate at which we forgive offenses done to us determines the rate at which God forgives us.
"We offend God often and often plead for forgiveness. The fact that we are among the living today shows that he forgives us and wishes that we forgive one another accordingly.
He enjoined Nigerians, especially politicians not to take advantage of forgiveness to steal people's mandate, assassinate characters or even take away lives believing that forgiveness covers them.
"For the fact that Reverend Fathers, pastors, preach forgiveness, do not give anybody impetus to step on their toes, unleash mayhem on them hoping to be forgiven."
He wondered why person who is not bad upstairs will walk into the Church of God, Chapel, to remove anything in the name of stealing, declaring such action as dangerous.
He added that God who is love, forgiveness, merciful, is also a consuming fire, urging men to put fear of God in anything they wish to do. (Ministry of Information)
