FIRE GUTS ANOTHER DUPLEX IN AWKA, ROOM BURNT TO ASHES.(PHOTO).

A room in a five-bedroom duplex has been razed down by fire in Anambra State.

This is coming barely four days after three other buildings got burnt the same day in the State, including the house of a Deputy Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

According to Anambra State Fire Chief, Engr. Martin Agbili, the latest outbreak occured at about 7.56pm on Wednesday at No. 10 Uche Mmaduabuchi Agu-Aba layout off Mopol Base, Agu Awka.

He said: ā€œImmediately, our fire truck and diligent firefighters were deployed to the scene of fire for its extinguishment. The fire was fought, controlled and extinguished.

ā€œThe cause of the fire was Power Surge and there was no record of any casualty or lost of life.ā€

Continuing, he said ā€œA room in the five-bedroom duplex was completely burnt, but we were able to control the fire from spreading to the other rooms and saved the building and other nearby buildings.

ā€œWe withdrew from the fire scene back to our fire station at about 2157hrs (9.57pm).ā€

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. ā€œThe Appellant was set up.
