 UNACCEPTABLE – GOV. ALIA BLASTS MBALOM KILLINGS, ASSURES JUSTICE FOR VICTIMS  Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has condemned the latest attack on Mbalom community in Gwer East Local Government Area, describing it as barbaric and unacceptable, while assuring residents of intensified efforts to protect lives and property. In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor reacted to reports of an assault by suspected armed herdsmen on the community, an incident that adds to recurring security concerns in parts of the state. Alia said the attack represents a direct threat to the peace and security of Benue, noting a disturbing pattern of what he described as calculated and selective assaults. He expressed sympathy to affected families and reiterated his administration’s resolve to confront criminal elements. Fire Guts Section Of Lagos International Airport

The baggage area, Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos has been gutted by fire at about 0723 this morning.

A suspected electrical spark at the baggage hall ceiling was reported to have caused the smoke incident.

According to the spokesman for the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Abdullahi Yakubu-Funtua, the source of the smoke was identified as burning litium inverter battery installation at the basement.

He said, the fire was put out by the quick response of the firefighters from the Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (ARFFS) of the Airport and the Electrical Department of the Authority.

“Their swift response and professional efforts have successfully brought the situation under control”.

“In accordance with our unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of passengers, staff, and all airport users, the Terminal building was promptly evacuated due to the smoke that had permeated some areas of the facility”

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
