 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity. I wasn’t sacked – Thaddeus Attah reacts as tribunal orders supplementary polls in Eti-Osa

Thaddeus Attah, House of Representatives member, representing Eti-Osa Federal Constituency, has denied reports that he was sacked by the tribunal.
Reports had said the petition tribunal in Lagos State had cancelled the House of Representatives election for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency.
The report claimed that the tribunal sacked the Labour Party candidate, who was declared the winner.
But reacting, Attah on his Twitter page said he was not sacked.
According to him, the tribunal ordered a supplementary election in the 32 polling units where election did not hold.
“No cause for alarm! I am here to clarify that I was not sacked. The Tribunal has simply ordered a re-run (supplementary election) in the 32 polling units where elections did not hold.
“We will continue working for Etiosa.
“I urge constituents to keep calm as we are unshaken. We will get through this together,” he said.
