Water Crisis Deepens in Nasarawa Eggon as Residents Resort to Unsafe Sources Residents of Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area in Nasarawa State are grappling with severe water scarcity, resorting to stagnant ponds and muddy pools for their daily needs due to the collapse of public water infrastructure. Communities now rely on contaminated water for drinking, cooking, and bathing, raising serious health concerns. Locals described the water as foul-smelling and visibly dirty, but said they have no alternatives. “We’ve not had tap water in over two months,” said Adefu Ruth, a resident of Angwan Kuje. “We’re forced to use this dirty water.” Despite the presence of elected officials and the Commissioner for Water Resources—an indigene of the area—residents say there has been no visible intervention. INEC To Conduct Mock Accreditation In Kogi, Imo, Bayelsa

The Independent National Electoral Commission , INEC says it will conduct a mock accreditation in the three States where Governorship elections will take place using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and upload of polling units results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) . 

A statement signed by the INEC National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee Mr Sam Olumekun says the test run will take place simultaneously in Imo, Kogi and Bayelsa States on Saturday 14th of next month from 8.30am to 2.30pm.

It states that a maximum of three polling units in each Senatorial District have been identified across each of the three States, covering a total of nine Senatorial Districts and 27 polling units.

 According to the statement, lessons learnt from the exercise will be taken into consideration in ensuring a seamless process on Election Day scheduled for 11th November 2023

It explains that Full details of the polling units, including their locations by Local Government Area (LGA), Registration Area (RA)/Ward, Delimitation Code and number of registered voters have been uploaded to the Commission’s website and social media platforms.

The Commission appeals to registered voters in the selected polling units to turn up with their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) for the exercise.

It advises the public to note that this is strictly a test accreditation exercise and not the actual election.
