 Texas man arrested with 75 pounds of marijuana in luggage while flying to London, police say A Texas man was arrested at Miami International Airport after authorities found 75 pounds of marijuana in his luggage before he could board a flight to London. Harrison O’Neill Tiernan, 23, from Austin, was charged with cannabis trafficking. He was traveling to Heathrow Airport and had checked two suitcases for his British Airways flight. Inspectors discovered 65 vacuum-sealed packages containing a green, leafy substance later confirmed to be marijuana. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped Tiernan while he attempted to board the flight, and he acknowledged that the bags were his. Authorities noted the inspections were part of broader efforts at the airport due to high outbound narcotics activity. In total, Tiernan was carrying 34.01 kilograms, or 74.98 pounds, of marijuana. KWARA GOVT PRESENTS RELIEF MATERIALS TO INMATES. (PHOTO).




 Kwara Gov't Presents Relief Material To Inmates 


Kwara State Government has presented relief materials to the inmates of Nigeria Correctional Service in the state.


Presenting the items materials on behalf of the state government at the headquarters of the service in Ilorin, secretary to  Kwara State Government,  Alhaji Mahe AbdulKadir said the gesture was part of the government's responssibilities to ensure wellbeing of inmates in the state.


Alhaji Abdulkadir maintained that the state government would continue to partner the  Correctional Service in areas of logistics .


He urged management of the Service to make judicious use of the relief materials to the benefit of inmates.


In a remark shortly after receiving the items ,Kwara State Controller of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Adebayo Oyun, thanked the State Government for the gestures, adding  that the items would be delivered to the inmates as directed.


He identified lack of parental care and decadence in cultural values as part of the factors responsible for crimes in the society.


Adebayo noted that over seventy five percent of the inmates are Kwara indigenes. 

 

Items presented to the Nigeria Correctional Service in Ilorin included 300 mattresses,  300 blankets, 70 cartoons of  soaps, 70 cartoons of detergents, 300 mats, 20 pieces of solar lights and 21 packs of bathroom slippers-- as well as cash donation .
