 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. LAGOS STATE MINISTRY OF HEALTH ROLLS OUT CANCER AWARENESS FOR TEENAGERS WITHIN HOST COMMUNITIES, FROM AGE BRACKET OF 9-15 YEARS RESPECTIVELY(FEMALE'S)


The lagos state Ministry of Health in line with The Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda as envisioned,rolled out a swift meeting with royal traditional authorities throughout lagos state in its efforts to have a better rapport and synergy on a free cancer health outreach targeted for young females within the age categories of 9-15 years.

These Health enlightenment programme which is a new development drawn out solely in view of mitigating the plausible effects of Cancer related Health challenges ravaging rural and urban resident communities situated across the terrains of lagos state 

In a Special Courtesy call to the palace of Atan-nla by the visiting team of lagos state Ministry of Health,led by the Health Educator assigned to Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Authority (L.C.D.A) In person of Mrs Balogun,Who in her opening address to stakeholders present at the meeting Stated in details the motive of the Cancer Health Awareness Campaign advocacy was specifically targeted for young female teenagers in the bid to make sure all hands are on deck in adherence with the intended healthcare programme which will commence by 25th of September tentatively.

She appealed to the Royal authorities and resident stakeholders on the crucial importance of the outreach with much emphasis on the peculiarities of the cancer health awareness initiative which is totally different from ORB immunisation programme embarked by health officials in the past,noting on the need for parents and guardians to seize the opportunity to not only key in but enrol in droves their female wards within the target age bracket in other to access the cancer healthcare delivery package once it administers free treatment at Atan and Ashipa Communities in quote.

The Baale of Ashipa,High Chief Jelili Akinkule Amusa who was present at the meeting,commended the visiting health team for bringing such laudable initiative embarked upon by the lagos state government to grassroot folks, in his remarks the royal father charged the health officials on the need to mobilise a well coordinated strategic motor van public address awareness campaign throughout the target host community who form the bulk of beneficiaries and large turnout of target audience as well for the optimal success of the outlined cancer free healthcare delivery treatment package.

Also speaking in same view was the Baale of the Host Community Venue itself (Atan NLA) High Chief Sufianu Odewole Who in his opening remarks admonished lagos state governor his excellency Babajide Sanwo-olu For prioritising the utmost welfare of the people in accordance with the T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda as envisaged and more so being resolute in the commitment of Healthcare delivery policy for the general interest of lagosians at large, He stressed the need for continuous collaboration between state agencies and traditional royal authorities so as to bring the dividends of public administration and good governance closer to grassroot folks living within their custody adding that these is the only medium which government at state and local level can feel the pulse of the masses.

On ground,was the presence of notable lagos state health superior officials such as the Chief Head Nurse.Mrs Adebayo,supervising coordinators for the Cancer Awareness exercise Ashipa Axis in person of Mrs Liasu and her Assistant Officer Mr Babatunde Saliu,Dignified traditional cabinet of chiefs representing Atan Nla,the two royal fathers of Atan and Ashipa Communities ( High chief Odewale &High Chief Amusa) with attendee stakeholders residing in Atan nla environs respectively
