 A priest in Anambra State wedded a couple yesterday, despite disputes with the bride’s father In a video circulating online, the Reverend Father narrated that The father of the bride who is from Nteje had insisted that the wedding should not take place unless his daughter swøre never to associate with his mother whom he has a quarrel with. The conflict arose from past marriage issues between the father and her mother. Before the wedding, the father repeatedly met with the priest, warning that he had already taken the bride's mother to a deity and that the girl must follow him to the shrine to appease that deity before the marriage can go on. For peace to prevail, the priest advised the couple to comply with all the father’s requests so the wedding could proceed, the priest even donated some of the items that the brides father told her to bring to use in appeasing the deity. LAWMA Seals Markets Over Dumping Of Refuse 


The Lagos Waste Management Authority has sealed two markets in Oyingbo and Alayabiagba, due to their unhygienic conditions as a result of indiscriminate dumping of refuse.


This was disclosed in a statement signed by the agency's Director of Public Affiars, Folashade Kadiri, on Monday.


The statement read, "Following a series of unheeded warnings to markets in Lagos to shun filth and embrace proper environmental hygiene, the Lagos Waste Management Authority has sealed Oyingbo and Alayabiagba markets in Lagos Mainland.


"Other markets that risk imminent shutdown for improper waste disposal and sundry environmental infractions include: Tejuosho Model Market Phase 1, Ladipo Market in Mushin, Anjorin Market, Irewolede Plank Market, Idi-Araba Obele Market, Oni Baba Market, Oba Morufu International Market, formerly known as Ejigbo Market, Ijora 7UP Market, Okeafa Plank Market, Ifelodun Fruit Market, Amukoko, among others."


The LAWMA Managing Director, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, said the authority’s decision to shut down the markets was arrived at after several warnings.


Gbadegesin cautioned that other markets engaging in irresponsible waste disposal and other environmental violations would face similar harsh consequences if they refused to turn a new leaf, adding that the executive members of such markets would also be held accountable.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity.
