 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Mentally Challenged Woman Rescued With Her New Born At Amansea.

It was a moment of joy at Amansea as a mentally unstable woman popularly known as Mama Blessing gave birth to a bouncing baby girl.

The woman who went through labor around a shop at garki Amansea was helped by some women around the vicinity to deliver her baby.

Sharing the baby powder to well wishers as is the custom amongst Igbo people, Mama Blessing was all joy that her bundle of joy is safe and sound.

Following the directives of the honourable commissioner for Women Affairs Anambra State Hon. Ify Obinabo, the Woman PG of Amansea Mrs Igwebuike Chinyere, brought the new born and her mother to Awka for proper medical attention and rehabilitation.

Speaking, Hon. Obinabo thanked God for safe delivery and appreciated Amansea women for their support towards the woman and her baby.

She noted that state government will rehabilitate Mama Blessing after which she will be reunited with her daughter.

As at the time of this report, the baby is in the care of the state ministry of women and social welfare while the mother is receiving treatment at Nteje Rehabilitation center.
