 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8. My Husband Wouldn’t Be Nigeria’s Leader If He Stayed Abroad


Oluremi Tinubu, the first lady, says President Bola Tinubu would not have become Nigeria’s leader if he remained abroad.


She spoke on Monday at the Nigeria Economic Growth and Trade Summit on the sidelines of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).


The session was organised at the Nigeria house in New York by the Nigeria Governors’ Wives Forum.


Oluremi said “brain drain” from Africa has deprived the continent of the talents it needs to develop itself, adding that Nigerians abroad should key into the “Renewed Hope” agenda of her husband for the betterment of the country.


“In our various communities, we must work towards creating conditions and providing basic needs that allow people to thrive by providing access to qualitative education, an enabling environment for job creation, and the development of local industries will create viable economic opportunities,” she said.


“The Renewed Hope initiative is an initiative that we just started, aimed at creating a better life for families.


“Our scope covers agriculture, education, economic empowerment, health and social investment, focusing on women and the youth who are the bedrock of the society.
