 ‘Conference Hall’ – Senators complain over poor quality of reconstructed Senate Chamber Senators on Tuesday expressed anger over the condition of the reconstructed Chamber, which they described as a ‘mere conference room’. Controversy has trailed the refurbished Senate Chambers since plenary resumed in the facility last week. Last Tuesday’s plenary was trailed by confusion as some Senators quarreled over sitting arrangements in the renovated chamber. During plenary on Tuesday, complaints over the standard of the Chambers led to a rowdy session which lasted for about 15 minutes and eventually forced the Senate into executive session. The Chief Whip of the Senate and lawmaker representing Borno South, Ali Ndume, who raised the issues through Order 42 of the Senate Standing Rules, said, “What is supposed to be a Chamber, has been turned into a Conference Hall”, a development which he said is not acceptable. “Mr President, I rise to make disturbing observations on this supposedly renovate

NIGER GOVERNOR DECLARES 3 DAY PUBLIC HOLIDAY FOR DISTRIBUTION OF PALLIATIVE.



NIger state government has declared a three day public holiday for the distribution of palliative to all the twenty five local government councils.


The three day declared are Wednesday Thursday and Friday next week..  


State Governor Alh Mohammed Umar Bago stated this at his maiden press conference in Minna the state capital.


Alh Umar Bago explained that the decision to declare the three day public holiday for civil servants in NIger state is to shut down governance so that Nigerlites will have soccur and relief as a result of the palliative.


He however directed all politcal appointees Permanent Secretaries and  Local Government Councils Chairman who are members of standing Committees set up by the state government to return to their ward for the distribution of palliative.


Accoding to him all former Presidents Vice Presidents former Governor's and their Deputies SSG"s  former members of National and State House of Assemblies traditional rulers and pensioners abd members of all politcal parties are automatic members of the standing Committees.


Alh Umar Bago warned that any person no matter how highly placed found to be involved in the diversion of palliative will be jailed to serve as deterent to others.


He said they have already recieved two billion naira with five trucks of rice while forty thousand bags of maize are being awaited in addition to expecting two billion naira from the Federal Government.


The Governor further explained that three point two billion naira will be dusbursed to the twenty five local government councils account this monday saying that five point two billion naira will be injected into local markets next week which would helped to force prices of food items to crashed.


 Alh Umar Bago added that they plan to employ one million people in the the agricultural sector through farming.
