 M23 says hundreds of Burundi soldiers captured in latest Congo offensive The Rwanda-backed M23 group has captured hundreds of Burundian soldiers during its latest offensive in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a rebel official said, as clashes continued despite a warning from the Trump administration. Last week M23 entered the strategic town of Uvira near the border with Burundi, less than a week after the presidents of Congo and Rwanda met in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and affirmed their commitment to a peace deal known as the Washington Accords. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Rwanda's actions in eastern Congo violated the Washington Accords and vowed to "take action to ensure promises made to the President are kept". Rwanda denies supporting M23 and has blamed Congolese and Burundian forces for the renewed fighting. Police Confirms Abduction of Lafia Polytechnic Student

 Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of a student of Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic Lafia, Nasarawa State during a robbery incident.

Police Public Relation Officer PPRO SP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the incident in Lafia.

According to the PPRO, the police around 10:30pm yesterday received a distress call that armed robbery was taking place in a house at Ombi 1, Lafia near the institution.

He explained that, Upon receipt of the report, Police men were immediately drafted to the scene and on arrival, it was discovered that three people were injured and the victims were rushed by the police to the Dalhatu Araf specialist Hospital Lafia for treatment. 

The PPRO said that the command has launched an investigation into the case as the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Maiyaki has deployed all tactical teams of the command to go after the perpetrators of the act.

SP Ramhan Nansel therefore, called on the public to provide the police with useful information that lead to the rescue of the victim and arrest of the perpetrators of the crime.
