 Alleged N4.8bn Fraud:  Appeal Court Adjourns Ibeto’s Appeal Till Sept 16 A three-man panel of the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division,on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, adjourned till September 16, 2024, the hearing of the appeal filed by the Chairman of Ibeto Energy Development Company, Cletus Ibeto. The case, which was initially before Justice I.O. Ijelu of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, had suffered several adjournments due to the absence of the defendant to take his plea with respect to the 10-count charges preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. He was charged alongside his companies, Ibeto Energy Development Company and Odoh Holdings Ltd. Justice Ijelu had, on November 3, 2023 declared Ibeto wanted based on the application moved by counsel to the EFCC, Rotimi Jacobs, SAN. He had also issued a bench warrant for his arrest.  RE: ASSAULT ON PUBLIC: POLICE DERANKS ONE, ANOTHER SEVERELY REPRIMANDED



The attention of the NPF has been drawn to an old video that has gone viral, where some policemen, on Sunday 9th April, 2023, engaged in assault, discreditable conduct, and incivility to members of the public, at Emouha, Rivers State. The matter was adequately addressed by the Police with public dissemination of Information on Police action via a press statement with reference number CZ.5300/FPRD/FHQ/ABJ/VOL.5/52 dated April 18, 2023. 


Following complaints and a subsequent orderly room trial, one police officer, Inspector Adejoh Siaka, was demoted from Inspector to Sergeant, and another officer, Sergeant Ndiwa Kpuebari, was severely reprimanded for their involvement in the incident. Additionally, Inspector Friday Obaka, who was absent from the scene, was discharged unconditionally.


It's astonishing to see the video being  widely circulated again as a new incident. We urge the general public to please discountenance the video which appears to be an attempt to bring the Force to disrepute and generate a wrong impression about the Police. Mischief makers are hereby warned to always verify facts before rushing to make unfounded claims about such matters on social media.

Namtira Bwala has threatened to file a lawsuit against the school authorities if her abusers are not punished within 48 hours. In a letter drafted by her lawyers, Deji Adeyanju and Co, Namtira asked the school authorities to immediately investigate and pronounce the stiffest punishments in the student’s rule book on Ms.Maryam Hassan, Miss Faliya, and nine other students who bullied her.
