 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. Shettima Appoints Peter Obi’s Running Mate’s Brother, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, As Special Adviser

The spokesperson for the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Dr. Hakeem Baba–Ahmed, has been appointed as the Special Adviser on Political Matters to Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Hakeem, a retired Federal Permanent Secretary, is the older brother of Datti Baba–Ahmed, the running mate of the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in the February 25 election.

Hakeem Baba–Ahmed, who made the announcement of his new appointment via a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, said he can no longer sit on the fence when he can be part of the system to contribute his quota to national development.

He expressed his eagerness to contribute to the nation’s development in his capacity as Special Adviser on Political Matters to the Vice President.

He wrote: “It is time to make it public that I have accepted the call to serve as Special Adviser (Political) to the VP.

“This is not the time for fence-sitting or criticism when you can be useful in turning the country round. I am honored and humbled. Please pray for me & Nigeria.”

Prior to his latest appointment, Baba–Ahmed held the position of Chief of Staff to former Senate President Bukola Saraki from 2017 to 2019.
