 A Limpopo man who stabbed his girlfriend to death in front of his own mother will spend the next 20 years in prison. The Polokwane High Court sentenced 48 year old Nathaniel Molatelo Mokgehle from Sekonye Village in the Botlokwa policing area for the murder of his girlfriend, 41 year old Mokgadi Julia Mohlaela. The court heard he chased her out of the house and continued stabbing her until she collapsed and died. Mokgehle also received six months for malicious damage to property. The sentence will run at the same time as the 20 year murder sentence. Evidence presented in court showed the victim had previously opened a malicious damage to property case against him. He was still attending court for that case when the murder happened. The attack happened on 08 June 2025 around 16:00 at his mother’s home in Sekonye Village. Son smashes father to death for refusing to give him money

A teenager simply identified as Ikechi has smashed his father to death with a pestle at Rumuaghaolu in Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Our reporter learnt that the suspect had requested an undisclosed amount of money from the father and became infuriated when the deceased refused to give him the money.

An eyewitness said that the enraged boy got hold of a pestle and smashed it on his father’s head.

The witness said the deceased died on the spot.

“He was enraged over the father’s refusal to give him money yesterday (Thursday). The boy was suspected to be on drugs. He was asking his dad for money and he refused to give him. He carried the pestle and hit him,” the eyewitness said.

When contacted, Rivers State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed the incident.

She said that the suspect had been arrested by the police. (Daily Trust: Text).
