Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive. Students Abduction: Zamfara Governor Summons Security Heads 

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has summoned an emergency security meeting following the recent abduction of students of the Federal University Gusau. 

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the spokesperson to the Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris and made available to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital.

The Emergency Security Council meeting was necessitated by last night's kidnapping of students of the University who were abducted in their off-campus residence at Sabo Gida village in Bungudu Local Government Area.

He stressed that, the Emergency Security Council meeting was aimed at ensuring the immediate release of all abducted persons and also finding a lasting solution to the lingering issue of insecurity bedeviling the state and beyond.

According the statement, the Governor directed the Deputy Governor, Mani Mallam Mummuni, to provide all the necessary support to the security agencies to restore normalcy in all the affected areas. 

At the meeting, the security chiefs assured the Deputy Governor of their commitment towards restoring peace in the State and equally confirmed to the Deputy Governor that troops had successfully rescued six kidnapped victims.

They also assured that, troops had neutralised scores of the kidnappers and were actively pursuing them to ensure safe rescue of all victims.

The Deputy Governor has reassured the people of Zamfara that security operatives are working tirelessly to address the current situation to make it a thing of the past.
