 Anambra Govt Warns Against Purchase of Encroached Land at Trans-Nkissi By MaryAnn Chukwuma The Anambra State Ministry of Lands has warned members of the public against purchasing plots at TransNkissi Phase 1, behind the Federal Government Girls College, Onitsha, from persons claiming ownership on behalf of the Umuosodi family of Onitsha. The warning was contained in a public notice dated Sept. 28, 2026, with Ref. No. PS/ML/2026/CR/VOL.II/028 and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Nkeiru Mokwe, for the Commissioner. According to the notice, the Ministry became aware that persons alleged to be members of the Umuosodi family had invaded and commenced clearing portions of the land with the intention of selling them to unsuspecting members of the public. It said compensatory plots had been allocated to the family and other families in Onitsha before the current administration. Taraba: Gunmen kill wife in husband’s presence, police on trail

Some gunmen killed a housewife and wounded her husband in Jalingo, Taraba State capital, on Sunday.
The spokesman of the state Police Command, SP Usman Abdullahi, disclosed the unfortunate incident to Daily Trust in a telephone interview.
The incident occurred at the Mile 6 area of Jalingo metropolis of the state.
Abdullahi mentioned that the attackers entered the house of one Mr. Balanko Gamalia and shot him and his wife in an attempt to abduct them.
The wife was reported to have died on the spot while the injured husband is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Jalingo.
He added that two persons, including a woman, were abducted in the house.
Abdullahi noted that the police are on the trail of the kidnappers.
The police spokesman urged members of the public to provide information to the police to enable them to track down criminal elements in society.
On May 7, gunmen attacked the Care Taker Committee chairman of Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, Mr. Boyi Manja, and killed his Orderly before taking him to an unknown location, PUNCH reports.
Maja was released by his kidnappers on Thursday, May 11, 2023.
