 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Value Orientation by States to Attract  FG Support - Minister


The Federal Government has assured states interested in embarking on value re orientation of adequate support.


Minister of Infomation and National Orientation Alh Mohammed Idris Malagi gave the assurance in an interview with Newsmen in Minna after attending the grand reception by the Niger state government in their honour.


Alh Mohammed Idris Malagi maintained that this had became imperative because without value re orientation there could be no meaningful progress and development of Nigeria.


He however said that the Federal Government will take every necessary measure to ensure that attempt to by the sun nationals expecially state Governors to that direction is given the necessary backing to succeed.


The Minister of Infomation and National Orientation was responding to plans by the Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago to embark on value reorientation across the state where he assured states Governor's in Nigeria of Federal Government preparedness to support that initiative.


On the grand reception in their honour Alh Mohammed Idris Malagi explained that the Niger state Governor has demonstrated a very powerful symbol peace and development thus appeaeled to stakeholders to come together to achieve the quest for a new Niger.


Niger state Governor Mohammed Umar Bago applauded the Minister of Infomation and National Orientation for his maturity and sportsmanship saying that they are now one and the samething working collectively for the development of the state.


Minister of state for Agriculture and Food Security Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi in his remarks assured of the determination of Federal Government is coming up with friendly agricultural policies that would ensure food sufficiency in Nigeria.
