 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Vice President Kashim Shettima has wishes all Muslims happy and remarkable Eid- el-Maulud celebrations to mark the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ( Peace be upon him) whose teachings, predominantly on tolerance, sacrifice, peaceful coexistence, abstinence, honesty and generosity are engraved in all faithful hearts. The universal truth of the values the Great Prophet stood for remain unmovable.

In a massage he advised Muslims to harp on this memorable occasion to reflect on whatever temporary challenges they may be facing, he implore all Nigerians to keep faith with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, which is targeted at making a difference in the lives of Nigerians.

According to him all Nigerians are part of the vision of a better country, and they must show astounding resilience in the responsibility of building the Nigeria of of the desired dreams. 

The Vice President said he believed strongly, that with mutual commitment and joint efforts, Nigerians will surmount every setback and collectively walk and march hand in hand the great nation to its rightful place and position amongst comity of nations. 

As Muslims celebrate this auspicious moment, he prayed that the joyous festivity and showers of Allah’s blessings be with all Nigerians.
