 The credibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voters’ register has come under intense scrutiny ahead of the 2027 general elections, following revelations by INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan that names of deceased persons remain on the register. Amupitan disclosed that names of voters who died as far back as 15 years ago are still listed, a situation critics say could undermine the integrity of the 2027 polls and lead to significant financial waste through the printing of excess ballot papers and other election logistics. The INEC chairman made the revelation while receiving the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Abisoye Coker-Odusote, and her management team during a courtesy visit in Abuja on Wednesday. 26-YEAR-OLD KANO MAN CELEBRATES BECOMING A US CITIZEN THREE YEARS AFTER HE MARRIED OLDER AMERICAN WOMAN. (PHOTOS).

26-year-old Kano man celebrates becoming a US citizen three years after he married older American woman.


A Kano man, Suleiman Isah, who married an American citizen, Janine Reimann, has become a US citizen.

 

Isah was 23 years old when he got married to Reiman, 46, on December 13, 2020. 

 

The couple met on Instagram 10 months before their wedding.

 

Ms Reiman, a chef based in Lindon, California, subsequently flew into Nigeria for the wedding ceremony which was held at Barracks Mosque Panshekara.

 

In May 2023, Isah announced that he had joined the US Army. 

 

Taking to his Facebook page on Thursday, October 26, 2023, Isah celebrated becoming an American citizen.

 

"Alhamdulillah, I am grateful to served in the world strongest military. Thanks to the United States military for giving me the opportunity to serve and become a citizen of the United States of America. I am now an American," he wrote.
