 The vest did the job - Donald Trump confirms agent injured in D.C. shooting scare Donald Trump has confirmed that a Secret Service agent was injured during a shooting scare at a major press event in Washington, D.C. Speaking after the incident, Trump said the officer was hit at close range but avoided serious harm thanks to protective gear.  “One officer was shot but saved by the fact that he was wearing a very good bulletproof vest,” he said, adding that the agent is now recovering and in good spirits. The situation unfolded during the White House Correspondents' Dinner, where attendees were settling in for the evening when gunfire was heard. Witnesses described a sudden shift from calm to panic, with people quickly moving for cover under tables as security responded. Abducted Delta community leader, three others escape from kidnappers’ den



The abducted President-General of Amukpe Community, Sapele Local Government Area Delta State, Mr Harrison Ekeleme and three others have escaped from kidnappers’ den.

Ekeleme and the three young men were abducted along the Warri-Sapele Expressway by armed men some days ago.

A senior police officer, who pleaded anonymity, told newsmen that a covert police operation led by SP Harrison Nwabuisi of Sapele Division closed in on the kidnappers, forcing them to abandon their victims.

Confirming his release, Ekeleme thanked God for sparing his life, saying “It was a horrific experience, saying the kidnappers seemed familiar with the routes around Warri and neighbouring villages.

“I never lost hope in our security agencies,” he said

Confirming the development, the Chairman of Sapele Local Government Council, Hon Eugene Inoaghan, commended the police and assured residents of continued efforts to stamp out crimes from the locality.
