 STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE President Tinubu commends Nigeria's Armed Forces for protecting democracy in Benin Republic President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the gallantry of Nigeria's military on Sunday for responding swiftly to the request by the Government of Benin Republic to save its 35-year-old democracy from coup plotters who struck at dawn today. Acting on two separate requests from the Government of Benin, President Tinubu first ordered Nigerian Air Force fighter jets to enter the country and take over the airspace to help dislodge the coup plotters from the National TV and a military camp where they had regrouped.   The Republic of Benin, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a Note Verbal, requested immediate Nigerian air support "in view of the urgency and seriousness of the situation and to safeguard the constitutional order, protect national institutions and ensure the security of the population." ALLEGED ILLEGAL DUTY/POLITICAL CLASH: OFFICER IN VIRAL VIDEO IN CUSTODY AS CP ORDERS FOR INVESTIGATION


The Commissioner of Police Kogi State Police Command, CP Bethrand C. Onuoha, psc (+), has ordered for an investigation into a trending video where a Police Officer was seen in the pool of his blood as a result of the Political clash in Idah.

2. The Commissioner of Police while condemning the incident noted that the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Department has been tasked to commence investigation.

3. The CP reiterates the Command's unwavering commitment to continue to engage the critical stakeholders in Election Security Management to ensure a secure environment for electoral process.

4. He added that, the Command is ever determined in providing a level playing ground for all Political Parties as they embark on campaigns, rallies, procession among others.

5. He sternly warns would-be trouble makers who are hell bent on causing violence and to undermine the credibility of the electoral process in the State to stay away from such act as the Police in synergy with other Security Agencies in Election Security Management will not hesitate to deal decisively with anyone caught disrupting the electoral process.
