Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing. CAF releases match schedule for 2023 AFCON

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Friday released the official match schedule for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The draw for the biennial competition took place in Abidjan last week.

The 34th edition of the biggest sports event on African soil will take place from 13 January to 11 February 2024 in Abidjan, Yamoussoukro, Bouake, San Pedro, and Korhogo.

The opening game will feature hosts Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea-Bissau on Sunday, January 13, 2024 at Alassane Ouattara Olympic Stadium of Ebimpe, in Abidjan.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will take on Equatorial Guinea in their first game on Monday, January 14.

It will be followed with games against Cote d’Ivoire on January 18 and Guinea-Bissau on January 22.
