Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing. Governor Dauda Appoints Sole Administrators For Zamfara Local Government Councils


 

 

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has approved the appointment of Sole Administrators for  local government areas in the State.

 

This is in a statement issued in Gusau by the spokesperson to the Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, noted that the appointed Sole Administrators were carefully selected based on their past achievements and track records.


According to the statement, the Sole Administrators were appointed alongside Secretaries and Supervisory Councillors across the 14 local government areas of the State.


He said: “In his bid to serve the people of Zamfara, Governor Dauda Lawal has appointed Sole Administrators for the 14 local government areas.

 

The appointments are Bashar Musa Anka,  Anka local government,  Sa'idu Danbala, Bakura local government,  Isiyaka Ibrahim  Birnin Magaji local government, Nasiru Muhammad Bukkuyum local government.

Nura Umar Bungudu local government, Aminu Nuhu Gummi local government,  Yahaya Garba Gusau local government.

 

“Others are Kasimu Sani Kaura for Kauran Namoda local government; Yahaya Giwa Maradun local government Yusuf Sani Bindi for Maru local government, Lukman Jafar, Talatan Mafara local government; Aliyu Adamu Barmo Tsafe local government, Junaidu Muhammad Barade for Shinkafi local government and Aminu Atiku Zurmi for Zurmi local government area. 

 

The statement added that, these appointments are for six months and are subject to confirmation by the Zamfara State House of Assembly, adding that, the Secretaries of the local government areas and Supervisory Councillors need not be confirmed by the State House of Assembly.
