 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

*Governor Soludo Swears In Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche as Special Duties Commissioner* 


Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo (CFR) has sworn in Barrister (Mrs.) Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche as the Commissioner for Special Duties.


Mr. Governor commended and jovially commiserated with her for crossing over from the legislative to the executive chamber. He told her that the greatest achievement for anyone is rendering public service.  


Rt. Hon. Barr. Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche was born to the family of Late Justice Chuba and Angie Ikpeazu of Umudei village, Onitsha. She obtained her First School Leaving Certificate (FSCLC) at St. Josephs Catholic School, Onitsha. She earned her West African School Certificate (WASC) at Federal Government Girls College, Benin City, Edo State.

 

She took a B.Sc. in Business Management/Accounting from Oklahoma City University, USA in 1994, and then studied Software Application Programme (SAP) Analysis at Atlanta Technology College, USA in 2006.


Rt. Hon. Barr. Beverly Ikeazu-Nkemdiche distinguished herself working in various Parastatals in U.S.A. She served as the First Black Human Resource Manager with Georgia Department of Transportation District Service for 12 years, and also worked as an Accountant Payable/Receivable Manager with British Petroleum (BP). She is a Licensed Real Estate Agent.


Coming back to Nigeria, she started an Event Planning/Management Firm known as Jazzys Events Management Firm.


A devout Christian and member of the Catholic Women Organization (CWO), she is the Matron/Patroness to many Social and Religious Groups including Youths for Good Governance, Anambra State Chapter. 


She was elected as a member representing Onitsha South II Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly in the April 2011 General Election. Her productivity and rare style of leadership led to her second and third terms in office as an Anambra State Legislator.


During her 12 years as Anambra State House of Assembly Member, she chaired several vital committees including, Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) from 2011 to 2015, Science and Technology/Markets from 2015 to 2019, Tertiary Education from 2019 to 2023, and Women Affairs/Child Development in 2023.


She has further obtained a Bachelors of Law (LLB) from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu University, Igbariam in 2021 and recently caĺled to Bar.


Rt. Hon. Barr. Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche has over the years proven to be exemplary in her public service.


She is married to Dr. Sunny Jude Nkecmdiche and blessed with three lovely children.
