 UN says 53 Congolese refugees have died in Burundi More than 50 refugees fleeing fighting in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo have died in neighbouring Burundi, the United Nations Refugee Agency told Reuters late on Friday. Of a total 53 deaths recorded, 25 people died due to a cholera outbreak, the agency said, while six others died from anemia and other complications related to malnutrition, it said. The U.N. said it was working with the health ministry and other partners to investigate the cause of the other deaths. More than 100,000 Congolese have sought refuge in Burundi since fighting near the border intensified in early December and rebels seized the town of Uvira, the UNHCR said. Jean Jacques Purusi, governor of South Kivu province where Uvira is located, described the situation in Burundi as "misery" and "a crisis completely forgotten by the international community and media." If Atiku, Obi contest again in 2027, they will lose – Reno Omokri

‘Table Shaker’ Reno Omokri has given his predictions on what would happen in 2027 if Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi contest in the next presidential election.
Omokri, a social commentator, is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, and a known critic of Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
He wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) page.
Omokri said: “If Waziri Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi both contest again in 2027, President Bola Tinubu will be re-elected, God sparing the lives of all three men. The only way Waziri Atiku Abubakar can defeat the incumbent is if Peter Obi does not run.
“If Waziri Atiku Abubakar does not run and it is a straight contest between Peter Obi and President Tinubu because of the Yes Daddy leaked audio, the president will roundly and soundly defeat Obi.
“I understand this is not what some people want to hear, but they must appreciate that that audio leak has fatally destroyed Peter Obi. The highest he can achieve politically is to be a spoiler at the Presidential level. Oya, insult!”

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
