 KADGIS To Introduce Land Agents Registration To Tackle Property Fraud The Kaduna State Geographic Information Service (KADGIS) has announced plans to introduce a registration system for land agents as part of efforts to improve accountability and reduce property-related fraud in the state. The Director-General of KADGIS, Dr Bashir Ibrahim, disclosed this on Wednesday in Kaduna during a town hall meeting on the 2026 Land Administration Reforms. Ibrahim explained that the proposed system would require every land agent operating in Kaduna State to obtain a unique and non-transferable agent code. According to him, the code would make it easier for KADGIS to identify the agents involved in land transactions and determine responsibility whenever disputes or fraudulent activities occur. “Every agent must obtain an agent code. Lawmakers Call For Compulsory Free Education For Girls

The House of Representatives has asked the Federal Ministry of Education to drastically reduce or if possible, eradicate the number of out of school girls by ensuring free and compulsory education for the Girl child across the country.

This came after the plenary adopted a proposal made by Kafilat Ogbara, a member from Lagos State, in honor of the 2023 International Day of the Girl Child.

Kafilat emphasized the right of adolescent girls to a safe, educated, and healthy life, emphasizing the need for girls’ leadership and creating platforms for them to voice their opinions in policy making.

She also highlighted the issue of drugs and sexual abuse among young girls with high number of them out-of-school

International Day of the Girl Child highlights adolescent girls’ importance, power, and potential, addressing issues like poor learning, discrimination, stereotypes, and exclusion of disabled and marginalized communities.

Adopting the motion, the House also urged the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) that are saddled with the responsibility of training and empowerment to ensure compulsory vocational skills acquisition training for girls to keep them engaged and productive enough and away from drugs.

The House urged the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), National Orientation Agency (NOA) and other Stakeholders to initiate ways of educating and sensitizing adolescent girls on the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.

It also mandated the Committee on Women Affairs to engage with all relevant Ministries, Departments
and agencies to ensure compliance.
