 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. LSSTF HANDS OVER NEW PATROL BIKES TO LNSA


… Reiterates Mr. Governor’s Commitment to Security of Lagos

The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has handed over new six Patrol Bikes to the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) to support their efforts in enhancing security and safety within the State. 

The Executive Secretary of LSSTF, Hon. AbdulRasaq Balogun, who handed over the Patrol Bikes to the Agency, said the acquisitions are expected to enhance and complement the Agency’s community motorised and foot patrol efforts.

“These patrol bikes will enable the agency to improve their mobility and response capabilities, ultimately contributing to a safer environment for the residents of Lagos State”, he stated.

Balogun reaffirmed the commitment of Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu to the security of lives and properties in the State, stressing that the Agency will continue to impress in the delivery of its mandate in the security matrix of the State to curry more attention and attract more equipment and welfare packages.

While taking delivery of the bikes, the General Manager of LNSA, Prince (Dr.) Ifalade Oyekan, FSIN, expressed delight on the input of new Patrol Bikes into the Agency’s fleet, affirming that the machinery will enhance the Agency’s desire for rapid deployment and monitoring at all times. 

Applauding Governor Sanwo-Olu for continuously putting Safety and Security on the front burner, the General Manager commended the Lagos State Security Trust Fund for consistency, expressing the desire of Mr. Governor to make the city the safest place for livability and socio-economic activities.
