According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. NIGERIAS 63RD INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY AND THE ANAMBRA SOLUTION DRIVE

By Paul Nwosu

Nigeria is celebrating her 63rd Independence anniversary at a time of immense challenges across the country. The newly elected federal government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is grappling with the dire results of the petrol subsidy removal. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is up in arms. Bandits are unleashing countrywide insecurity. What affects one part of the country inevitably extends to all the other parts of the country. Anambra State cannot be an island unto itself. The silver lining is that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, is more than ever determined to chart the rewarding pathway of establishing a liveable and prosperous homeland in the shortest possible time.

Just like in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where Dubai holds aloft the light, Governor Soludo is poised to give Anambra State a pivotal placing as a destination point instead of a departure lounge. Incidentally, Nigeria shares the same birth year with Mr. Governor. Both should go hand-in-hand as Africas bountiful works-in-progress.

The issue of solving the insecurity problem is a matter very dear to Governor Soludos heart. He has led the charge in putting together the Southeast Security Summit that just took place in Owerri, Imo State. The holistic approach toward solving insecurity in Anambra State and indeed the entire Southeast and Nigeria needs all hands on the deck.

The 63rd Independence anniversary is happening after the recent hosting of the highly successful Anambra Investment Summit that took place in Awka. The state witnessed multiform investors who took it upon themselves to invest in the destiny of our dear state, and confessed that the state was much safer than the dangerous news being spread outside by some doomsayers. With the working security network put in place by Governor Soludo, Anambra State is indeed in safe hands. The Solution Team has put in place an intelligence-backed security network to ensure the free movement of the people with the unceasing support of the military, the police and other security forces. Through our security policy of "See something, say something", telephone numbers have been made available to the public for individuals to call and alert the security agencies of any activities of the criminals and sundry touts and hooligans wherever they are seen. Round-the-clock security is guaranteed, 24/7, in the new Anambra under the watch of Governor Soludo. The watchman never sleeps.

There is no gainsaying that our people can only look up to the future with great expectations and assured deliverables as stated in The Soludo Solution: A Peoples Manifesto for a Greater Anambra. In the words of Governor Soludo: I have thought through our challenges and the disruptive changes needed to secure the future.
It is by ensuring a distinctive Anambra State that the future of Nigeria can be assured. The state lionized as the Light of the Nation can never ever be found wanting.

The courageous act of disrupting an old order has never been easy anywhere in the world, but Governor Soludo has walked his talk in the manner of the legendary Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore. He has put in place a tax system where none really existed before, and he highlighted the fact that it was through effective taxation in the Eastern Region of yore that Dr. Michael Iheonukara Okpara established what became ranked as the 5th fastest growing economy in the world then.

With the tax collected, unprecedented numbers of roads are under construction all over Anambra State. It can be said that the entire state is now a huge construction site, and there is always the inscription at every site: Your Tax Money is Working for You. At the last count, more than 350 kilometres of roads are under construction, serving as arteries of commerce, and opening up the food basket zones of the state and the hinterlands. This is the first time stone-base roads with cement stabilization and requisite moisture content are being undertaken in Anambra State.

Ndi-Anambra are of course celebrating Nigerias 63rd Independence anniversary travelling on well-paved roads, even when many more are still under construction.

The people who are set in their old ways are being made to understand that the rule of law is the way to go. Governor Soludo is armed with the requisite political will to liberate our dear state from squalor and torpor. He has instituted a sustainable Clean and Green revolution. Waste management is now tackled head on, and never in breach.

Money-guzzling diesel streetlights have been effectively replaced with the cost effective and environment friendly solar-powered streetlights.

The light of transparency shines forth all over Anambra State. Nothing is being done in an opaque way any longer. The litmus test was the 5,000 teachers employed after a rigorous and competitive series of tests.

Multiform youth empowerment is on the front gear, and ICT is the rule rather than the exception.

The health sector is soaring with new doctors, pharmacists and nurses being given requisite employment to tackle the health needs of the state.

The constructive leadership that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) under the youthful Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa has bestowed on Anambra State the will to prosper by bringing to fruition Governor Soludos Solution drive. The APGA slogan of Onye aghana nwanne ya (nobody should be left behind) is indeed the Anambra Way.

As Nigeria celebrates her 63rd Independence anniversary, Anambra State under the leading banner of Governor Soludo shows the light.
