 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Stop Parading Yourself As Awka's Traditional Ruler -Soludo Warns Ndigwe, Insists Nwosu Remains Only Recognized Monarch In Awka


The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has prevailed on Chief Austine Ndigwe to desist from parading himself as the Traditional Ruler of Awka.

Governor Soludo who handed down the warning while attending Chief Ndigwe's birthday celebration in Awka, insisted that the only person recognized as the traditional ruler of Awka is Obi Gibson Nwosu.

The Governor noted that in order to return peace, unity and progress to Awka, all hands must be on deck, calling on Chief Ndigwe, the youths and the entire Awka Community, to join forces with his administration to develop the state.

He revealed that his government is working on giving Awka a facelift as a befitting capital city, such as the ongoing construction of internal roads in Awka, Government House and Lodge, leisure hub and amusement park, among others and applauded Chief Ndigwe for doling out palliatives to his people.

The Governor added that by early next week, Anambra State government will commence distribution of bags of rice to over three hundred thousand households, among other measures aimed at cushioning the effects of the subsidy removal on ndị Anambra.

Chief Ndigwe appreciated the Governor for honouring his invitation and pledged to synergize with his government to engender progress in the community in particular and the state in general.

Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, among others, attended the birthday celebration.
