 APC PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN COUNCIL PRESS STATEMENT ATIKU MUST EXPLAIN THE LEGAL AND FISCAL BASIS OF HIS PETROL SUBSIDY PROPOSAL At his press conference in Abuja on Friday, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar reiterated his proposed  “production subsidy” for locally refined petrol, which he said would reduce pump prices. He went further to ask President Bola Tinubu to slash the cost of diesel and petrol at the pump. That proposal raises important legal, fiscal and practical questions that he must answer. Section 205(1) of the Petroleum Industry Act 2021 provides that unrestricted free-market conditions shall determine wholesale and retail prices of petroleum products. The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, in a statement on Saturday, explained that it neither fixes pump prices nor issues administrative price templates, except where the statutory conditions for intervention are met. Two Nigerian women arrested with drugs worth N63m in India

Two Nigerian women, Adaeze Jaye, 43, and Success Chamika, 23, have been arrested with drugs worth over N63m in Rajasthan, India.
 
Pushkar police arrested the two women with a total of 65 grams of Mephedrone (MD) and a cash of Rs 65,000 cash late on Friday, October 27, 2023. 

Police in a statement on Saturday, said Rs 65,000 cash, and a digital wave machine were also seized from the accused.

The value of the seized drugs has been estimated to be approximately Rs 6 lakh, the police said. 

Police station in-charge, Rakesh Yadav said police have registered a case against both under the NDPS Act and started investigation. 

The higher officials and the control room have been informed, Yadav added.
